McMurry Announces Launch of the Strategic Video Awards
July 21, 2010
Phoenix—The lack of awards programs dedicated strictly to corporate videos means many communicators who share important messages through such a dynamic medium go unnoticed. That's why McMurry is launching the Strategic Video Awards, the first corporate communications awards program dedicated solely to the burgeoning field of video.
"In years past, TV advertising earned the lion's share of corporate video activities, and there are plenty of awards programs for TV ads," says Scott Accatino. "Today, marketers are producing huge amounts of corporate videos that aren't intended for TV, and this awards program will honor those efforts, and in particular, those that achieve business objectives."
Whether the video be a one-time spontaneous Flip Cam video, a highly-produced corporate documentary, a lighthearted executive vlog or serious news program, all videos or video series should be entered into the Strategic Video Awards. The program includes 35 categories, such as diversity communication, external branding, benefits communication and one Grand Award. The entries will be judged by 12 communication industry experts.
The intense growth of video as a communication tool for Corporate America is no surprise. 80 percent of U.S. consumers in 2009 watched online video each day. Consumers have clicked on 142.7 billion pieces of professionally produced, brand hosted and distributed videos since 1999, and consumption of video is expected to rise by 20 percent annually. In a 2010 ContentWise survey analyzing the state of content marketing, 54 percent of survey recipients forecast increased use of video in their content marketing strategies in the coming year.
